Born Nick Rotteveel on January 6, 1989, in Amerongen, Netherlands, Nicky Romero discovered music through his passion for drumming as a teenager before gravitating toward production and DJing, releasing his first tracks in 2007 on labels including Spinnin' Records and Toolroom Records. His 2010 track My Friend, sampling Groove Armada, earned early support from Tiesto and Sander van Doorn, and in 2011 he broke through globally with Toulouse, which reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and the top 10 of the Dutch Top 40.
